End of the Year Reminders...

Along with my responsibility to be a great, caring, and loving chiropractor (which I am!, not to mention handsome also) one of my other responsibilities is to remind you all that our bodies need certain preventative tests done to make sure everything is working properly. This is because if the body is working properly outwardly, it doesn't mean that inwardly everything is fine.

Therefore these are your end of the year reminders:
1- If you are of age to have a mammogram and it has been more than 2 years, please set one up for the New Year
2- If you are over 50 years old and haven't had one yet, please set yourself up for a colonoscopy
3- Many people forget how important our skin is. If it has been more than 2 years make an appointment for your dermatologist
4- If you are a guy, get that prostate checked!
5- If you are a gal, go for that OBGYN check up if it has been more than a few years
6- Go for a complete blood check up (including sugar levels)

We get so used to our bodies just doing what it does, we sometimes forget we need to check certain things. Please keep this in mind.

I want to wish you all a blessed New Years- safe and sound and healthy. Have fun, enjoy and if you need us for anything don't hesitate to call.

Yours in good health,

Dr. Ray and Staff

Poor Olde Santa's Bones

I was just thinking how abused Santa's body must feel this time of year. Think about it: he's checking lists twice, he's walking up and down the toy factories in the North Pole making sure all is on schedule, he is going up and down chimneys squeezing through all shapes and sizes, and he has to ride around in that uncomfortable sleigh for hours and hours at a time- its exhausting I'm sure.

Imagine how he feels- his tight rigid muscles clamoring for the chiropractor. Aching legs needing to be kneaded.

But no...He doesn't go get adjusted because he is too busy taking care of "everyone else."

If that is not something I've heard a million times: everyone is so busy doing everything else for everyone else they forget to tend to their needs and end up living with their problems.

So lets all try not to be like Santa and find the time to take care of our chronic spinal issues. The point is that most of the time you don't have to end up living with it if you just give chiropractic a chance.

Have a safe and glorious holiday with your family and friends.

Yours in good health,

Dr. Ray and Staffa

The Beauty of the Blog

So my son has been helping me with my social media since I am 98% computer "dense." He recently reminded me that this, the blog you are reading now, is our 100th blog entry! I felt really good about that, let me tell you why...

The reason is because what is blogging really? It is a chance for me to talk about different topics and what that really is, is education!

If you are a good, competent caring doctor educating your patients should always be part of your treatment. Teaching your patients about how their bodies work and other health related issues should always be part of what a good doctor does. So blogging has become a wonderful part of my office. I certainly hope that you all have enjoyed reading the blogs. We try to make it informative in a light hearted way and I believe we have succeeded in doing so.

It gives me lots of pleasure to blog, and with my sons help it looks terrific and is a wonderful way to communicate. Keep on reading, keep on learning and here's to another 100!

We are here for you all the time, its always a pleasure!

 Yours in good health,

Dr. Ray and Staff

Consciousness Raising Thoughts

Just a quick blog to remind everybody that it is the every day ridiculous things we do and the repetition of those things that contribute to most of our spinal problems. So:

1- For all of you stay at home moms and dads- make sure you remember to bend properly to help with the 10,000 times you pick up your children every day
2- Not to pick on the females, but check your pocket books/bags and take out a lot of the stuff you don't need in them. I've seen women's bags as heavy as luggage which can lead to heavy stress on the shoulder/upper back area...
3- You macho men out their...When you are out doing fall chores make sure you do it in moderation. No need to do 15 hours of leaf blowing in one sitting
4- The multitudes of all of you who sit at desks all day at work, GET OFF YOUR TUSHES MORE and move around during the day. Sitting hours at a time is spinal hell
5- Parents, please check your kids back packs. Their is often un-needed weight in them and can contribute to beginnings of spinal/mechanical problems.

I've told a million patients over the years if we lived on the Moon I'd have to find a new profession since gravity contributes to our spinal issues. Another example of how every day life contributes to our dysfunctional spinal problems.

So heed these words and take care of yourselves. We are here for you whenever you need us.

Chiro-A Great Treat

Chiropractic is really one of the greatest treats out there. It is available to you all year but I am just reminding you today since Halloween is coming up. The "trick" that continues to be promulgated out there is that you all are made to believe that you have to live with many of your aches, pains, headaches, leg and arm pains, etc etc. The trick that continues to be sold to you is that it is "normal" to have all of these symptoms, so take all this medication for your chronic issues. That is in fact the trick...

Again, the treat is chiropractic! I am not saying that it is the answer to all of human ills. I am saying that the treat of chiropractic is with a little adjusting, watching posture, raising consciousness, watching ergonomics, doing stretching and some resistance training you can incredibly change your life in many ways. That is the treat of chiropractic and we are here for you to open your eyes to that.

Have a safe Halloween for your and your children!

24 and so much more...

When I was just a lad my favorite baseball player was Willie Mays. His number just happens to be 24 so 24 has always been my lucky number. Now, 24 brings so much more meaning at this point in my life.

It goes without saying that time goes by too quickly and we all need to recognize how blessed we are. I feel totally in awe that I have had the special privilege to lay my hands on Chester County residents for 24 years. It seems like only yesterday I opened up my office and didn't know any person in Chester County other than my wife and my almost 3 year old little boy.

But here we are going into my 25th year- still enthused about helping and changing peoples lives, still humbled how a little bit of chiropractic and a little bit of tender loving care can change peoples lives.

My new office location is working out great: easy to get to and actually more visible than my old office. So I continue to do what I've done for almost 30 years. I want to thank all of my patients from the early days through today. I never take for granted their business and I will always continue to be the best I can! Thanks again for this glorious opportunity.

Yours in good health,

Dr. Ray and staff
