Treat or Treat

As October 31st approaches, I believe it is a good time to remind everybody to treat or bodies nicely and to treat our bodies to the tests that we should do for preventative care. Therefore I say:

1- Make sure you get to the dentist at least once a year for checkup and exam (twice a year cleaning is smartest, its worth the $)
2- Colonoscopy- with no family history and no problems, please have it done by 50 years of age. Any history in the family, don't wait and get to a doctor
3- Men please treat yourself to a prostate exam: very important and smart to do
4- Gals treat yourself to a mammogram: you'd be surprised how many women never have had an exam or it has been years since they had an exam
5- Everyone: treat yourself to getting your blood taken- check cholesterol, liver, sugar, etc. etc.
6- And of course it goes without saying....Treat yourself to a terrific chiropractic adjustment and assessment- our spines need to be maintained

So have a safe Halloween, take care of the kids, and have a Baby Ruth on me (my favorite candy).

Headaches & Chiro

Unfortunately chronic headaches affect too many people. Often, changing seasons can contribute to exacerbations in headache frequency. Certainly contributing factors to headaches can be: increased stress, strain from daily activities, kids not listening to you, traffic, and cranky spouses.

There is also one amazing contributing factor to repeating headaches that most people that suffer from headaches don't even consider. The upper cervical or (neck) vertebrae and the muscles that mechanically help function in that area support the base of our skull and the constant abuse of that area from everyday movement is a major contributing factor to recurring headaches.

During the course of my 25 years in practice in Chester County, helping headaches has been a consistent and wonderful part of my practice. I urge you all to refer anyone you know that does have headache problems to our office. Of course, any questions that people may have please remind them to call the office so we can answer them.

Happy Fall...and Happy (Jewish) New Year to all!

Yours in good health,

Dr. Ray and Staff

THE NERVE OF CHIROPRACTIC

The musculo-skeletal, mechanical and functional benefit of chiropractic or spinal manipulative therapy has been well documented for centuries. The benefit that human beings have received from this hands on approach has been consistent and evident for many years. The relationship between our joints and the soft tissue that helps the joints function is GOD given and chiropractic uses that innate wisdom our bodies have to help it work better to a optimal level.

The neurological component of chiropractic is really quite simple- we have 31 pairs of spinal nerves that exit off the spinal chord through little spaces that are created between the vertebrae in our spinal column. These spaces are called foramina- our spinal nerves exit through these and branch off to send nerve signals to every part of our body including our extremities, organs, skin, and everything else in between.

So, each time you receive an adjustment you are receiving benefit to the neuor-musculo-skeletal function of your body. That is the power of a chiropractic adjustment!
A person may not feel their nervous system improving from each adjustment, since what drives most people in to see me is some kind of symptom or pain.

But, TRUST ME- the transmission of your nervous system incredibly benefits each time I lay my hands on your bodies.

It truly is a blessing and I feel fortunate to be your chiropractor.

Our Children Have Spines, Also.

First of all, is it really September or am I dreaming. Didn't the "winter from hell" just end, and they are calling for a worse winter? Well, we will all have to help each other as we always do.

We sometimes forget that our children have spines also that are neglected, overworked, abused, and repetitively strained.

As school begins, or began already, I implore you all to bring in your children for a complimentary spinal exam. It is easy to forget that there spines are overloaded. The amount of problems I have seen in the past 10 years due to "the book bags from hell"is astounding. Fortunately, some schools have gotten double books so kids don't have to constantly bring home their books. Still, it is a problem. It affects the posture and therefore function of mechanics of the vertebrae which can lead to further problems as our children get older.

Please bring them in, my pleasure to check them. I implore all my patients that are parents to check their kids book bags and make sure they are not bringing home more then they need. Easy to do and important to follow up with.

See you soon in the office.

Summer is Almost Gone...

Is it really August 16th today or am I dreaming?
Didn't the "winter from hell" just end or am I dreaming?
It is amazing- time just has a way of whizzing by. It's so easy to lose focus on all the blessings we have. Certainly please always remember and never forget the blessing we all have with our amazing human bodies. It just keeps on working, the cells keep on rejuvenating, the skin/hair/heart/organs keep on working- it's GOD's plan or at least universal intelligence, mother nature and innate wisdom of our bodies. DO WE TAKE THIS FOR GRANTED OR WHAT!

Please appreciate the wonders of our bodies and continue to always help it along with good diet, exercise, chiropractic, timely Doctor checkups, fooling around, and other activities.

Have a joyous rest of the summer. Please remember the office has moved to Fairfield Shopping Center in Exton, PA. We continue to look forward to seeing ya'll in our new office!

Forever "Not So" Young

I direct the following words of wisdom to my children's generation. My son is 26 and my daughter is 23. They are referred to as the Millennials or Generation Y (Why Generation Y- I have no idea). It is not my intention to bum you guys out but it is my responsibility to remind all you Millennials that between time, gravity, and repetition of our daily lives- your bodies will eventually start to "talk back to you."

I just want to send this out to the Generation Y-ers to raise your consciousness about preventative thinking for your bodies. Make sure you do a decent amount of stretching before you work out hard. If you do hurt yourself, get yourself checked out to make sure nothing is really wrong. Don't wait until you have spinal issues, give your chiropractor a call to get checked out- get your posture checked. Make sure you are eating a varied nutritional diet.

I totally understand these are things that you guys wouldn't think about because your young still. When you get to be in your 30's, the body starts to change and I want you guys to be ready for that.

Please don't hesitate to call. We could talk about this and I could give you exercise and postural stretches to do. Learn about chiropractic and adjustments even if you are feeling ok.
These are important things and it is my responsibility to remind you about this as I do with my own children.

Continue to have a wonderful and safe summer.

Yours in good health,

Dr. Ray and Staff
