Love thy partner, love their spine

So, Valentines Day approaches. There are many ways to show how you love your partner. Here are some ways you may not have thought of; love your partner by reminding them to watch their posture when they are walking (keep those shoulders back and head straight). Love your partner by reminding them to make sure ergonomics are proper when using the computer. Love your partner by checking when they are sleeping if they are in good sleep posture. Love your partner by making sure that they shovel snow (remember snow?) by bending their knees properly. Love your partner by reminding them to put a nice, moist heating pad on their lower back for any chronic stiffness.
These are just a few of the ways you can show extra love to your significant others this Valentines Day. A healthy spine makes for a happy partner. Don't forget to stop in the office to get adjusted and have a chocolate kiss on me!

First of the year- Ergonomic Review

I hope this year begins with employment for most of you reading this blog, that's my economic prayer to you all. That being said,  sitting at a computer for most of the day is not uncommon. So lets review:
-Sit down, push your tush to the back of the chair
-Get those shoulders up straight, get the head back so your ear lobes are over your shoulders
-Get your elbows next to your sides, get your forearms parallel to the floor
-Get a nice comfy mouse so your hand is level with your wrist
-Finally, make sure the monitor is right in front of you or a few inches at either side of your face

If you follow these instructions, your body will take less of a hit from all the sitting at the computer. Always remember and never forget,
that structure effects function!

To a healthy and peaceful 2012!!!

The time for the yearly resolutions are hear again. We all make them, we all try to fulfill them, and many of us including me often break them. So always remember and never forget: since the future is immense and the resolutions are intimidating, lets please remember what Abe Lincoln said, "The greatest thing about the future, is that it comes one day at a time." Lets all succeed one day at a time. Stay healthy, get adjusted, and eat your WHEATIES!

Yours in good health,

Dr. Ray and Staff

P.s.- Please check back to our blog and our Facebook for office updates and schedule changes for 2012, we have some cool stuff planned!

JINGLE BONES, JINGLE BONES!

Tis' the season to enjoy, give thanks, a bissle egg nog (a little), and just a couple preventative thoughts for ya'll: when your schlepping in the Christmas tree please make sure you lift properly, bend those legs and keep that spine straight. A wrapping note:...always remember and never forget to be nice to your spine, soo....marathon wrapping of gifts is best done sitting at a table not cross legged on the floor. I don't want to be a scrooge, but your spinal health is my priority so listen to what Dr. Ray has to say. God bless all...

A HAPPY HOLIDAY TO EVERYONE!!!

Yours in good health,

Fall Clean Up Time

I looked outside my bedroom window today and saw five trillion leaves on my lawn. Always remember and never forget, when you do outdoor yearly chores "i.e.- leaf raking, planting, mulching, weeding, etc..." please remember MODERATION is the word to keep in mind. It's always best to do the chores in chunks of time, not all at once. All at once increase the odds of injury and activating preexisting degenerative changes that we all have due to aging and life. As we get older, we can continue to do most of what we did years ago, but a little more thought needs to go into the process.

P.s.- Thanks for coming in during our "Thank You Week". We always appreciate and love our patients.

Yours in good health,
Dr. Ray and Staff
